From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At cruise, 2000 ft, 20 minutes into the flight, the pilot felt a vibration through the rudder pedals that he associated with a missfire in the engine. As the flight progressed an oil mist appeared on the windscreen. The pilot located the nearest airport, but during the approach the power began to fail. Due to power lines near the end of the runway, the pilot opted for a full stall landing in a bean field, 1/4 mile short of the runway.
