From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft experienced a fuel starvation problem while attempting to go around the traffic pattern at Kankakee airport (ikk). Aircraft was forced to land on a frontage road near the Kankakee fairgrounds. The aircraft received minor damage to the underside of the left wing, torn fabric approximately 6 to 8 inches long. The owner discovered a disconnected fuel line due to a loose clamp. Apparently when the engine warmed up, the line not being held in place by a clamp, became disconnected from the engine.

As the FAA filed it
