From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Crew had delayed departure for 1+30 hours as severe thunderstorms moved through the dia airport. Aircraft finally departed on runway 17 with winds reported at 110/18 gust 31. Crew noted that the tailskid light remained illuminated after takeoff. Crew was notified by aft flight attendant of a strange noise on takeoff. Crew then elected to return and land at dia. The missing tailskid shoe and aft airstair skin damage was found at that time. The company management personnel reported that they interviewed the crew and reviewed proper severe weather techniques with the crew.
