From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) N4299L was running up short of runway 28 on taxiway "b" at owd and was number one for takeoff. N4299L was being flown by a flight instructor and student pilot. N41983 was behind N4199L on taxiway "b" and number 2 for takeoff. N41983 called for takeoff clearance and was cleared to takeoff by the ATCT. N41983 then attempted to taxi around N4299L. There was not adequate room on the taxiway to do this without overlapping the wings of the two aircraft. The outboard aileron hinge of the right wing of N41983 dragged across the wing tip cap and outer portion of the left wing of N4299L causing a deep scratch.
