What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) On August 28, 2001 at 1140 local david tuck lost control of a PT-17 (stearman) during landing at sanderson field. The aircraft came to rest on its back. The weather at the time of the incident was VFR with calm winds. Mr. Tuck made and approach not to runway 23 but to the grass just right of the runway. This area is not a certified as a grass landing strip nor is it maintained as one. Mr. Tuck stated he executed a three point landing at about 55 mph. After a short landing roll, the aircraft began to drift right. Mr. Tuck applied left rudder with no effect. Because he felt the aircraft was going to ground loop, he then applied full left rudder and left brake which reduced the right drift somewhat when the aircraft nosed over and flipped on its back. While there were no injuries, the aircraft sustained damage to the propeller, wing leading edge, associated struts, and vertical stabilizer/rudder. While towing the aircraft back to the hanger, Mr. Tuck noticed the right brake was dragging and backed off the brake adjustment for that wheel. (Continued). Nothing attached.
