From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On September, 1, 2001, while conducting a balloon ride with 3 passengers, at approximately 1850 CDT the pilot in command was landing in a field in the Danville city limits. About 5 feet from touchdown the PIC noticed a power line, very close. When the envelope deflated it draped across the power line. The PIC and all 3 passengers exited the basket without injury. The power company was called to shut off power and the balloon was pulled clear of the lines. The balloon suffered minor damage of a small 8 inch hole burnt in the scoop, no other damage was noted.
