What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Nose landing gear collapsed after touchdown at Jekyll Island, GA (09J). Aircraft departed peachtree city-falcon field, GA (ffc) approximately 1300L on an IFR flight plan direct to 09J for training purposes. The pilot-in-command (PIC) was a designated flight examiner providing flight instruction to the student pilot. All events leading to the nose gear collapse were routine. An on-site inspection was conducted by a griffin flight school certificated mechanic (with inspection authorization) revealed a mechanical failure of a steel bracket associated with the nose landing gear support. This bracket, part number 95724-00, attaches the retraction cylinder to the firewall. An inspection of the two additional seneca's operated by this facility revealed no defects. This particular failure may have been caused by "over stretching" the nose landing gear on one or more landings which could have exerted a considerable amount of stress on the nose landing gear. The student pilot was upgrading to a mult-engine rating.
As the FAA filed it
(-23) NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AFTER TOUCHDOWN AT JEKYLL ISLAND, GA (09J).
