From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On November 22, 2001, aircraft N5UJ, a Lear 25B, crashed on takeoff at Pittsburgh international airport. The aircraft was on a title 14 part 91 flight to its base of operation. Witnesses stated the aircraft left runway 28L with a high nose pitch attitude. Facts indicate the aircraft struck the 3000 foot runway distance marker after leaving the runway, and then paralleled runway 28 left until it struck a fence and crashed into a small valley. An in depth investigation has not revealed any mechanical failures at this time. The crew sustained fatal injuries and the aircraft was destroyed in the post crash fire.
