From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) A/c was departing las and during climb at 280 KTS after leaving FL250 the a/c encountered a/f vibrations. The a/c requested return to las and during descent at 180 KTS the a/c had a hard roll to the left with increased vibration. The a/c was safely landed at las using a higher than normal approach speed. Inspection revealed the left outboard leading edge slat trailing edge damaged with a 20 inch section approx 3 ft from the outbd wing tip gent fwd at a 90 degree angle with the slat. Additionally the wing closeout panel that the slat rides on was also bent backward at a 60 degree + angle. Damage appeard to be the result of the trailing edge of the slat contacting the wing closeout panel and restricting retraction of the slat. The apparent cause of the contact/binding is unknown at this time.

As the FAA filed it
