From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot departed a private hunting ranch near avon, MS. Enroute to monroe, LA. (Mlu). He had received a weather briefing from deridder afss at 0825 CST for a flight from greenville, ms to monroe, LA. The briefer advised that VFR flight was not recommended. It appeared that the pilot was maneuvering to land at a private airport (27A7) north of oak grove, LA. A witness, who was located in a hangar at the private airport, stated that he heard the airplane over fly the airport at what sounded like a "low altitude." The witness went outside and observed the airplane approximately 1/4 of a mile southeast of the airport at approx. 300 feet above the ground, in a steep left bank. The airplane then entered a spin, rotated 1-1.5 times, and impacted the ground. The witness reported that the cloud base was approx. 500 feet AGL.
