From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

(-23) On 01/10/02, at approximately 1000, a 1961 Cessna 175C, s/n 17557017, N8317T, piloted by Mr. Frank e. hinds, certificate #001692160M ofprivacy data omitted made a precautionary landing without incident on a ranch road , approximately 8 miles southwest of the San Angelo airport (sjt). Mr. Hinds (PIC) was the only person on board the aircraft. Mr. Hinds was not injured. There was no damage to the airport. There was no one reportedly injured on the ground or any property damage. There was no fire. There was no NMAC. While descending to land at sjt, Mr. Hinds noticed low oil pressure and increased RPM indications. As a precaution, Mr. Hinds elected to land the aircraft on a deserted ranch road. Engine failure did not occur. The engine was running and making power at landing. Upon inspection, a "b" nut on an oil line to the propeller governor was found to be leaking oil. Repairs were accomplished and the aircraft was returned to service. The aircraft took off from the ranch road and landed safely at sjt without further incident. A malfunction or defect report 8010-4, will be submitted.
