From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(.19) On April 1, 2002, at 0515 central standard time, a Cessna 551, N502CL, piloted by an airline transport pilot, sustained substantial damage when it struck a deer during takeoff from runway 26 (3,058 feet by 50 feet, asphalt), at the Lake In The Hills Airport, lake in the Hills, Illinois. The positioning flight was conducted under the provisions of 14 CFR part 91 and was on an instrument flight rules flight plan. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The flight was originating at the time of the accident and the intended destination was the sky harbor international airport, phoenix, Arizona. (-23) during take off roll, pilots saw deer crossing the runway at approximately 80 KTS (before V1/VR). PIC attempted to stop the aircraft by applying max braking, deployed speed brakes, and used full thrust reversers to avoid the impact with the deer. All deer except one were missed which impacted the left inboard wing root. The fuel tank was pierced, external skin damage, and the left inboard wing spar was damaged.
