From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was enroute from rogers, ar to Mt. Vernon, IL at 7,500' MSL when the engine began to run rough, and the aircraft lost altitude. His GPS showed mountain view, MO (mnf) as the nearest airport. He turned toward the airport but was approximately 23 NM north-northeast of the airport when he had to make an emergency landing in a lightly wooded ceiling. He landed gear up because of terrain and the small size of the clearing. The left wing was severely damaged. The tail and nose of the aircraft forward of the firewall were ripped off the aircraft. Subsequent, investigation disclosed the aircraft had experienced airworthiness problems and had the propeller gear case repaired.
