From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 17 apr 2002, atlantic coast airlines flight #9948, a reposition flight returned to pit with the number one engine shut down. This was due to the left engine oil pressure cap light illuminated with the corresponding oil pressure indication below 40 PSI. The aircraft landed on runway 32 with ARFF responding the aircraft taxied to the ramp with out further incident. The two (2) aca mechanics on board discovered that the turbine oil pressure line that had broken previously had again broke. The aca mechanics had notified their maintenance control and it was decided that the engine would require removal. It was discovered that this was the third line to be replaced on the aircraft. It was verified that the breaks were at the same area of the line. The chdo (AEA-FSDO-27) was notified and will be initiating an SDR. This incident is considered closed.
