What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After t/o from 2B2 leveled off at 100 ft, pulled power back to 2200 RPM and eng rolled down to cutout. Attempted restart, engine sputtered but would not. With the help of the second pilot, executed an emergency landing into a marshland. (-23 amendment) after departing Plum Island Airport (2B2) the aircraft climbed to 1000' MSL. At 1000' MSL the power was reduced to 2200 RPM. At that time the engine ceased running. Engine out procedures were then conducted. The engine did start momentarily and accelerated to 1200 RPM and then again ceased running. At this time an emergency landing was initiated. The aircraft touched down in a marsh, rolled 100' and struck a berm which collapsed the nose wheel. The aircraft continued another 41' when it dug into the ground and flipped upside down. The aircraft was substantially damaged during the landing phase.
