From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) PIC howard clark reported that he lost control on landing in crosswind conditions. He indicated that he had a normal touchdown in the wheel landing configuration when the aircraft began to weathervane to the right on rollout. He said that when he applied left rudder to counteract the yaw, the right wing lifted and caused the left wingtip to slide on the runway. The aircraft then veered off the right edge of rwy 8L and into the grass, where PIC clark reestablished control of the aircraft and taxiied to the ramp uneventfully. PIC clark reported that he had just received his taildragger endorsement and after consultation with his flight instructor, he plans to accomplish 5 hours of dual instruction in crosswind conditions in the C-180 before further solo flight.
