What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) The non-certificated pilot stated that he made a very low approach to the runway because of the floating characteristics of the Taylorcraft while flaring on a short runway. The pilot misjudged his altitude allowing the tailwheel to make contact with the soft mud on the marsh located short of the runway threshold. The drag caused by the tailwheel in the mud caused the main wheels to make contact with the mud. At a very low airspeed, the aircraft flipped over and came to rest on its back. The only damage noted was a slight oilcanning of the underside of the cowling. The pilot was unhurt. Mr. Dunn admitted that he flew the aircraft too low and slow and that he has never had a pilot certificate.
