From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Actual registration number is NC4949. During the takeoff roll the "v" brace on the left main landing gear broke. The PIC was unaware of this problem, conducted his sightseeing flight and landed. Upon landing the aircraft pulled to the left and flipped over on its back in a grass area and causing substantial damage to the aircraft. No injuries to the passengers or pilot. The investigation proved the original "v" brace weld broke on the takeoff and came out of the saddle. The wheel was attached to the axle but could not support the airplane during the landing.
