From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During final approach on a flight from evv to eye the engine lost power. The aircraft glided to eye (approx. 2 miles) and landed without incident. Upon inspection it was found that the #1 connecting rod failed at the piston pin journal causing the piston to be driven beyond tdc causing the cylinder studs to fail which pulled the cylinder from the case. Secondary damage was caused to the cowl in the area adjacent to #1 cylinder due to the separation. No fire or other aircraft damage.
