From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 10/24/2002, N994PG, a retractable landing gear amateur built, osprey GP4 aircraft was enroute from brockport, NY (7G0) to charlotte, NC (clt). At approximately 200 knots cruise, the mechanical landing gear actuating bar was inadvertently released, the landing gear to extended very quickly, causing damage to the main actuating mechanism. The pilot declared an emergency and landed at the Roanoke regional airport (roa). During the landing rollout both main landing gears collapsed, the aircraft veered to the right and upon exiting the runway, the nose gear dug in and collapsed. There were no injuries to the pilot or passenger. The aircraft received minor damage.
