From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While hand propping the Aeronca/7AC, s/n 7AC-2329 for a flight. Mr. Shema stated "the aircraft started and jump the chalk he had under the right tire." The circular tire marks left in the grass indicate the aircraft made numerous left hand circles in the taxi way/runway. Finally the aircraft proceeded across the runway shearing off a shed support pole with its right wing tip. The right wing struck a pole of the hanger, spinning the aircraft to the right into N22122. There was substantial damage to both aircraft. Mr. Shema received twenty-seven stitches above the right eye where the right strut struck him. He also received bruised ribs, right elbow, and right ankle. His aircraft, engine and pilot logbooks were reviewed with no discrepancies noted.
