From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Background: on nov 9, 2002 while awaiting a park (aircraft positioned between concourse c and d) on to gate #D6 the crew started the APU, aprox 30 seconds later the cabin filled with thick smoke. The capt. decided to evacuate the a/c, all four slides were deployed and functioned properly. There were several minor injuries and one person was taken to the hospital for a fractured ankle. Status: a/c maintenance found left engine thrust reverser return line broken. Hydraulic fluid leaked down to the relief holes in the bottom of the a/c just forward of the APU inlet. When the APU was started the fluid was sucked into the APU, the smoke produced by the burning hydraulic fluid found its way into the cabin causing the capt. to evacuate the a/c.
