What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) VA99 is a private grass surface field located near Reedville, VA. The runway is oriented north/south with several buildings along the sides of the runway. According to Mr. John Federhart, on 10 November 2002, at approximately 1400 hours (local), he was piloting his own aircraft, a Beech BE-35-C35. On the takeoff roll to the south, the left gear hit a soft spot on the runway. The aircraft veered to the left towards a hangar 800-900 feet from the takeoff end of the runway. Unable to stop the forward progress of the aircraft, mr. Federhart attempted to ground-loop the aircraft in order to avoid hitting the hangar. Not being totally successful in his effort to turn the aircraft, the right wing struck the building. Mr. Federhart was not injured, however his aircraft received substantial damage, including but not limited to, shearing-off the right wing, damage to the nose gear and propeller. The hangar received minor damage.
