From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During climb after take off from the Longville, MN airport the engine quit. The pilot switched fuel tanks and was attempting an engine restart when the aircraft struck trees in a heavily wooded area and crashed. Large amounts of fuel was found surrounding the crash site. Inspection of the engine and fuel system by the FAA and Lycoming revealed no obvious discrepancies. The fuel servo, shadin fuel totalizer/flow indicator and jpi edm 700 engine monitor were removed for testing. The edm 700 did not contain a memory card so it contained no information. The shadin fuel flow indicator was operated at shadin co. and indicated the aircraft had 44 gallons of fuel on board. The fuel servo was sent to the chicago office of the NTSB for testing. No test results are available at this time. This report will be amended if additional evidence is obtained.
