From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Shortly after takeoff the pilot reported the aircraft experienced a complete electrical failure. The pilot attempted an emergency landing gear extension, but was unable to get the gear in the down and locked position. He shut down both engines on approach and hit a berm on the approach end next to the runway, the aircraft bounced and slid on the grass next to runway (24) about 200 feet. The aircraft came to rest with the landing gear collapsed. Unable to establish the exact cause of the electrical failure. After evaluation of the circumstances involved it appears that the pilot inadvertently operated the aircraft on battery power only.

As the FAA filed it
