From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot stated that just after take off he heard a loud bang in the engine compartment. The aircraft had a partial loss of power. Aircraft would only produce 17 inches of manifold pressure. Pilot notified ATC tower personnel and elected to return to the airport. Pilot fixated so much on the engine problem he forgot to put landing gear down before landing. Aircraft landed gear up with minor damage. Maintenance personnel have not determined the reason as to the loss of power at this date. As soon as the aircraft's engine is tested the mechanics will provide an m or d report. This report closes out the investigation of this incident.
