From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On February 17, 2003 at approximately 1653 EST N789C, a SA-227 metroliner ran off runway 2 at Richmond international airport (ric) resulting in four flat spotted tires on the main gear, left propeller blade damage (one blade tip) due to striking a runway light and right propeller blades appear to be slightly bent. The first officer was the pilot flying and the captain was the non-flying pilot, which is normal company policy. The aircraft was being repositioned to pick up passengers with only the crew on board at the time of the incident. The runway was notamed to have packed slush of one inch plowed 150 feet. N789C was cleared for takeoff and was uneventful until approximately 60 KTS when the aircraft veered hard to the left. The pilot flying reduced the throttles to idle and applied full right rudder. The captain took the controls and applied reverse to the right engine and activated nose wheel steering. The aircraft departed the left side of the runway, came to a stop and was towed off the runway.
