From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On March 23, 2003 approximately 1900, Mr. Jones contacted me on my home telephone, that at my permission the comm center had given him. Mr. Jones stated that he had landed at Negrito Airstrip, which is a dirt runway used as a firebase by firefighting aircraft, not knowing that it was covered in deep mud. After landing Mr. Jones further stated that he walked the runway and decided to attempt a takeoff. During takeoff Mr. Jones stated the aircraft was having a difficult time getting to speed. Mr. Jones was able to get the aircraft off the ground, but stated he was approaching a group of trees near the end of the runway and decided to abort the takeoff. Mr. Jones stated he then cut the power, the airplane settled back on the runway and approximately 100 yards off the end. The nose gear was in mud over the nose wheel wheel "pants". The aircraft tiped up on the left side as the aircraftrotated slightly counterclockwise. The right wing tip struck the ground breaking the navigation light lens and bending up the wing tip. There was no damage to the front spar. All three propeller blades were bent back and the right main gear tire/wheel "pant" was destroyed.
