From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Student training in progress this flight. The flight was to be terminated with the student pilot conducting a cross wind landing on rwy 27 at the Athens airport. Touchdown was made on the upwind main landing gear, the right main with a high vertical and side load volicity. The aircraft bounced back into the air whereupon the pilot executed a go around. The right main gear suffered structure failure as would not extend fully for the subsequent landing. The pilot had confirmed the unsafe gear condition with the ahn tower. The approach and landing to rwy 27 was then made by the flight instructor. On touch down, the right main gear went to the retract position and minor damage was sustained to the right wing tip and right stabilator.
