From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Experienced gradual loss of oil pressure in flight. Declared emergency and made precautionary landing on the beach. Discovered that rear bearing scavenge line was blocked. Engine was replaced and aircraft returned to service. This engine incorporates factory modifications to the rear bearing lubrication system that is supposed to make it unnecessary to perform periodic cleaning and inspection of rear bearing for coking. This is the second occurrence for this operator of oil system blockage as a result of coking of the rear bearing on the modified engines. This operator has decided to return to 1000 hour intervals for cleaning of rear bearing as required for unmodified engines. A service difficulty report has been submitted detailing the problems associated with the rear bearing coking of modified engines.

As the FAA filed it
