From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On landing at 6S2, tail wheel was perpendicular to center position. When tail wheel contacted ground surface, aircraft veered right off runway and lifted left, striking the ground with wingtip and prop. Applying rudder steering had no effect. Damage was sustained to wing spar (substantial) and to prop assembly. No injuries sustained. Damage to wing spar was not evident until wing fabric was removed for examination of damage. Examination of tail wheel assembly shows that spring loaded flanged tail wheel entering mechanism failed. M or d to be submitted by operator.
