From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On may 22, 2003, 0845 MDT, a north American SNJ-6 (5485V) registered to privacy data omitted and operated by donald l. symington, privacy data omitted sustained substantial damage whille landing at the Double Eagle II Airport (aeg) Albuquerque, NM. The pilot, who was the sole occupant of the aircraft, was not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed for the personal flight under 14 CFR part 91 that originated at saf at 0819 MDT. According to several witnesses, who work at the airport, they observed touch down and after swerving, depart the runway to the left side approximately 1,000 feet from the approach threshold. The aircraft's left main mount then struck an eroded lip of a service road and failed outboard. The swerve caused by the failure of the left main mount caused the right main mount to fail inboard.
