From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During a tail wheel check out the instructor, Mr. Steven harris, mishandled a recovery from a bad landing and caused the airplane to become airborne 45 degrees to the runway center line. The airplane then settled back to the runway and scraped the right wing and caused the plane to turn to the right. This caused the plan to skid side ways on the left main gear causing the left main wheel to fold under and brake off from the gear. The airplane struck the left wing bending the spar out side of the strut attach points. The prop also sustained damage during this event.
