From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While departing runway 30L at vgt, the pilot stated that he rotated and the aircraft did lift off but then it settled back to the runway and he continued his takeoff roll, he attempted to lift off again, and again the aircraft settled back to the runway but this time he felt that he was in wake turbulence and the aircraft struck the ground hard enought to collapse the landing gear. The aircraft continued to slide until it left the runway, the pilot was not sure of the type aircraft that departed in front of him but he stated that he had received a "caution wake turbulence" from the tower but that he thought he had waited long enough. (The vgt tower supervisor stated that the aircraft that departed before him was a dornier 228).
