From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft cleared to land on runway 36 at msn. Aircraft touched down approximately half way down the runway and bounced. The nose wheel contacted the runway and the aircraft porpoised into the air two more times, the nosewheel contacting the runway at the completion of each porpoise. With approximately 1,000 feet of runway remaining, the aircraft went around and returned to runway 36 for an uneventful landing. Inspection of aircraft by maintenance personnel determined that the nose strut crush tape was compromised. Hard landing special inspection was completed in accordance with DO-328 maintenance manual, d and o, section 05-51-01. No defects noted. Aircraft was returned to service and ferried to cvg on 08-03-03.
