From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) N6JH (a Piper PA-32-260) piloted by steven krpata (pilot cert. #41462709) on August 4, 2003 while landing on runway 26 at pit-Greenville airport (pgv), departed the runway, impacting a runway sign with the right wing. This in turn caused the right wing fuel tank to be penetrated. N6JH then crossed runway 20 causing sparks that ignited the right wing and the aircraft came to rest about 1000 feet from the center line of runway 20. The pit-Greenville fire department extinguished the fire.
