From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On August 6, 2003, at 0645 MDT, a Cessna 337F, N8921M, registered to adventure leasing, struck the ground shortly after takeoff while performing touch and go landings at Las Cruces International Airport, Las Cruces, NM. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan had been filed. The aircraft was substantially damaged and the certificated airline transport pilot, the only person on board, was uninjured. The flight originated at Las Cruces international at approximately 0630 MDT. The pilot indicated he had taken off from runway 12, flown the pattern once, touched down on the first touch & go and rotated for takeoff when the aircraft lost power and drifted to the left. He said while struggling to keep the wings level at 3 to 5 feet off the ground, he tried unsuccessfully to restore power. When he knew the plane was going to hit the ground, he cut power and braced for impact. The aircraft bounced "2 or 3 times" and came to rest facing west about 300 feet south of runway 22 and 1100 feet east of the intersecion of 12 and 22. He shut off all power and fuel and exited the aircraft.
