From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot and owner of aircraft landing on runway 17 at Logan, Utah airport, (lgu), with winds from 190 with 12 knots gusting to 18 knots. The pilot made a 3 point landing with his conventional gear aircraft. The aircraft had an uncommanded lift off and bounced 3-4 times. While attempting to correct this situation, the left wheel/axle/brake assembly departed the aircraft. Aircraft skidded on left wing tip, left gear coming to a rest on the nose damaging the prop and cowling. A witness agreed that his landing attempt looked normal, and that his first touchdown did not appear to have been a hard landing.
