From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After take-off from a fly-in/airshow at three forks, Montana, the pilot stated that he was unable to retract or extend landing gear. Mr. Mchenry flew the aircraft to home base in Bozeman, Montana, where crash/fire/rescue services were available. The pilot flew by the tower to confirm that the landing gear was down and locked. On landing, the gear collapsed. There was no damage to the aircraft, except for the propeller and pitot tube, and no injuries to the pilot. The pilot feels that the gear selector was possibly moved during static display at the airshow. The aircraft is being repaired by local mechanics.
