From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft had departed ranchaero airport (O23) in chico CA. On first flight after a complete repainting of the aircraft. On final approach to Napa airport the left hand aileron came loose from it's outboard attach point. The aileron remained attached by the inboard attached point but hung down at about a 70 degree angle. The pilot was able to land with no further damage or injuries to the lone occupant. Examination of the aircraft indicates, that when the flight controls were reinstalled after painting the retaining nut on the outboard attach bolt was not installed.
