From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot reported a "pop" when the landing gear was retracted on takeoff. No other anomalies were noted at that time. Upon return to the same airport, the main landing gear would not extend completely. The pilot reported to the tower that he would have to initiate an emergency landing. The pilot was able to retract the gear and made a successful emergency gear up landing with minimal damage to the aircraft. Post examination of the landing gear system by a 14 CFR part 145 repair station revealed that the main landing gear actuator had fractured and failed. The repair station will submit a malfunction defect report as required by their inspection procedures manual.
