From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot, jeremias david mendonca, jr., submitted a statement, that on 9-12-03 at approximately 09:30 local time, while attempting a landing on ksmx runway 30, he encountered variable and gusty wind conditions. The aircraft dropped at a rapid rate. He added power and made a stick movement. The wind conditions changed again and while attempting a go-around attitude, contacted the runway on the gear and bounced back in the air. He applied forward stick pressure to gain a level flight attitude and the aircraft struck the runway, this time in a nose wheel first attitude. The nose gave way at that time and the aircraft skidded to a stop. He states that he was the sole occupant of the aircraft and no injuries were sustained.
