What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) N27987 was being flown under a part 91 re-positioning flight to pick up a part 135 charter at yakataga. The pilot stated he was on a VFR approach into yakataga. Because of gusty conditions the pilot decided to abort the landing, but continue to make low pass, to notify the waiting passengers of his decision. The pilot elected to leave the gear up. Halfway through the low approach, the pilot decided the winds had decreased enough to make a landing on the remaining half of the runway. The pilot forgot to put the gear down and landed gear up. Because the low approach required a moderately high power setting, the gear warning system never activated. The pilot was the sole occupant and was not injured. The aircraft had substantial damage, including damage to the wing spar carry-through.
