From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) According to a witness, the aircraft was attempting to land on runway 21 at Sussex, NJ (fwn). The witness stated the aircraft appeared to still be airborne, and moving very fast at midfield of the 3,500 foot runway with a light quartering right tailwind. The right main landing gear tire failed after leaving an approximately 1,000 foot skid mark on the runway. The aircraft veered off the runway to the right and destroyed a runway edge light. The pilot stated the right brake locked momentarily but an FAA operations and airworthiness inspector as well as a local a&p/ia were on the scene. There was no indication of brake malfunction. Weather conditions were VMC, and there were no reported injuries, no other damage was done to the aircraft other than a blown main gear tire.
