(-23) This was described as a familiarization flight conducted by Mr. Stephenson for Mr. Hagel. At the time of the incident Mr. Hagel was manipulating the controls from the left hand seat position under the supervision of Mr. Stephenson, occupying the right seat position. During a touch and go procedure at iwa (runway 30R) on the takeoff roll, Mr. Stephenson commanded "rotate" at which point Mr. Hagel selected gear up (retract). Mr stephenson stated that he immediately selected gear down (extend) at which point the aircraft settled on its nose and Mr. Stephenson then positioned the throttles to idle and aborted the takeoff. The main gear remained extended, however the nose gear was in the retract stage. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the nose, gear doors, and both pitot masts.
