From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot reported that while in the run-up area prior to takeoff, he was waiting for the oil temperature to come up. He was adjusting the throttle and experienced a surge in power and it pulled the nose over, shredding the propeller. He called for a tow and returned to the hangar. This was intended to be the first test flight after high-speed taxi tests of an experimental aircraft built by the pilot. After the incident the elevator was rigged to allow more elevator up travel in accordance with the kit's manual.
