From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On January 9, 2004 at 18:00 local time, PIC duane klinger was taxiing out to the active runway in Greeley, Colorado. The nose gear collapsed during the taxi out. Damage was limited to the prop, engine, lower engine cowl with attached gear doors. One passenger, privacy data omitted was on board. No injuries to either party. Investigation revealed that the aircraft hada current annual inspection. Mr. Klinger had an expired medical and biannual. Review of his pilot logbook showed that the last flight entered was on 4/21/02. At that time he was current. Could not provide evidence that Mr. Klinger had flown since his medical and biannual had expired. Preliminary aircraft accident/incident reoprt indicated that the gear collapsed on take off roll. However, the aircraft was on the taxiway, not the runway. Counseled Mr. Klinger on complying with the regulations and the possible sanction of not being current.
