From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot called the tower to request a full stop landing at Reid Hillview airport. The tower replied asking the pilot to report 3 miles on base to 31R. Upon reaching 3 miles on base, the pilot tried to contact the tower and realized that com 1 was not working, therefore, he switched to com 2 and could hear the tower again but could not reply. The pilot last heard the tower when he was on final approach. He reset the master switch and checked the alternator charge and it was indicating slightly above zero. The pilot decided to do a 360 degree turn before turning to final and landing on 31R. He extended the flaps to 90 degrees, put landing gear down and established a final speed. During flare the landing gear warning horn didn't sound, therefore, the pilot landed the airplane forgetting to perform an emergency landing gear extension assuming the gear was down. As the pilot heard the plane contact the runway he closed the mixture control and throttle. After the aircraft stopped on the runway the pilot put the fuel valve on off, turned the master switch off and placed the alternator control in the off position. The sjc FSDO operations unit inspector counseled the pilot on location. This investigation is closed.

As the FAA filed it
