From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot t.o. from his Private strip, climbed to 6000FT and went inverted during an acrobatic maneuver (aerobatic aircraft). Oil covered windshield and obscured view. Pilot immediately returned to his airstrip and landed wide. Came to stop aside of runway and nosed over. Prop hit, left and right aileron damaged, pilot was not sure if landing gear was damaged. Aircraft was pulled back onto tail and towed to pilot's Private hangar. Interview of pilot, Mr. Roberts, stated he had left the oil cap off during pre-flight. Oil cap was found in grass by the hangar.
