From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Mr. Rice in the late afternoon on April 15, 2004, picked his aircraft up from a maintenance shop at ccr. Mr. Rice performed pre-flight checks, and an engine run-up. He then took-off and flew out to a practice area. The aircraft performed normally. Mr. Rice stated he decided upon return to ccr to practice some "touch and go" work. He requested clearance and was cleared to do his first. He landed normally on runway 19R. Mr. Rice then states he prepared for take-off by aligning on the center-line, set trim, and retracted the flaps prior to take-off. As he applied power, the landing gear collapsed. Mr. Rice stated he secured the aircraft, and departed without injury. Pilot states he selected the landing gear switch instead of the flap switch. Pilot concludes a contributing factor was cabin disorientation because a work-board "normally" attached to the yoke was removed by maintenance and not re-installed.

As the FAA filed it
